As Navy Pier begins preparations for a late spring reopening, the iconic lakefront destination and nonprofit institution is hosting a seasonal job fair on Monday, April 12 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Peoples Energy Welcome Pavilion, located near the front main entrance in Polk Bros Park.
The event, which will be held with several public health and safety measures in place, will seek to interview and hire candidates interested in seasonal frontline Guest Experience positions, ranging from Pier Park attraction operators to social distancing ambassadors—a newly established role as of last summer following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent enforcement of heightened safety practices as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Guest Experience team will continue to support the Pier’s key operations and implement appropriate safety protocols this summer to help ensure the health and comfort of all guests.
Those interested in attending the job fair must register online in advance and reserve a timeslot for an on-site screening. A printed or digital copy of the Eventbrite reservation will be required upon arrival. Candidates should also bring several copies of printed resumes and be prepared to interview on the spot. Professional or business casual attire is advised.
While interviewing on site, candidates must wear a face mask that covers their mouth and nose at all times and maintain at least six feet of distance from Navy Pier representatives and other candidates. Upon completing interviews, attendees must immediately exit the premises as the Pier remains closed to the public—with the exception of the new on-site hotel, Sable at Navy Pier, and its restaurant, Lirica, which are now open and accepting reservations.
Public transportation remains accessible to the Pier as CTA buses continue to stop near the northwest entrance. Rideshare pickup and drop off will also be permitted near the northwest entrance. Those driving to the Pier may park for free in the East Garage and walk west along the North Dock to the Peoples Energy Welcome Pavilion. Candidates are encouraged to arrive early to allow enough time for travel. Interviews will begin promptly at the start of each candidate’s reserved timeslot.
Navy Pier is committed to hiring practices that reflect diversity and racial equity. All employees are expected to uphold a high standard of inclusion, justice and fairness in every role.
Navy Pier has been temporarily closed to the public since Labor Day to limit the financial impact and implications of the ongoing pandemic on the nonprofit organization and the more than 70 small and local businesses it houses. The Pier remains on track to reopen later this spring. The official timeframe and related details will be announced sometime in the coming weeks.
